Email HTML preview

Paste an email's HTML or open the file. See it at desktop and phone width, with images on or off, and get the problems Gmail and Outlook would cause: clipping, missing alt text, relative links, CSS they ignore.

Checked in your browser, nothing is sent.

How to read the result

Problem is what breaks for every reader: scripts, relative links and image paths, HTML past Gmail's clipping limit. Needs attention is what breaks in some clients: flex and grid layouts in Outlook, styles that live only in a <style> block, images without alt text, widths over 640px. Info is worth fixing when you are in there.

Building the email from merge tags? Test the values with the merge tag tester, and the subject and preheader with the subject line checker.

Questions

Does this show how the email looks in Outlook or Gmail?
No, the preview is your browser's rendering, which is more forgiving than any mail client. Seeing the real thing needs screenshots from real clients (Litmus and Email on Acid do that, for a fee). What this tool adds is the checks for what those clients are known to break, which a browser preview hides.
Why does Gmail clip my email?
Gmail shows only the first 102 KB or so of a message's HTML and hides the rest behind “[Message clipped] View entire message”. Anything past the cut, often the footer and the unsubscribe link, most readers never see. Long inline styles repeated on every element are the usual cause.
What does “Images off” show?
The email the way Outlook and many work accounts open it before the reader allows images: each image replaced by its alt text. If the message disappears, it lives in images.
Is my HTML sent anywhere?
No. It is parsed and checked in your browser. The preview runs without scripts; images in it load from wherever they are hosted, as they would in a mail client.
